M.D. Geist is fuckin' rockin' cool as all hell. Another good short one.

Watched a few isekai over the past few months.

Uncle from Another World was good. Some guy comes out of a coma and his nephew is tasked with taking care of him. He claims he was in a fantasy world while he was unconscious in the real world and surprisingly retains his magical powers. There is a lot of stuff about retro SEGA consoles in this, too. Pretty good show, probably my favorite of them all. Shame it's so short.

Jobless Reincarnation. Somewhat a reverse of the previous one. Guy dies pushing schoolkids out of the way of a speeding truck and restarts life as a baby in a fantasy world, but retains all his memories. It seems decent enough.

Overlord. An infamous player of a once-popular VR MMO falls asleep wearing his headset during the final moments before the game is taken offline permanently. When he wakes up, he is now in the body of his character and his guild hall is perfectly intact with the previous NPC guards designed by his friends, but they are in a world with different geography from the MMO. He decides to conquer the new world in order to leave the now-sentient NPC guards with a safety net. It's a show where you root for the villain. The worst part about it is having a lot of CGI.

Re:Zero. A high-schooler gets transported to a fantasy world and is saved by an elven girl when he is being mugged. He falls in love with her and decides to help her. Shortly after making this promise, they are both murdered. It turns out the boy is cursed by a powerful witch and resets to a checkpoint whenever he dies, which reverses everything that happened already including the deaths of others. It wasn't bad, but the premise kinda removes the weight behind every death scene. I guess the positive aspect of that is there are tons of death scenes.

KonoSuba. High schooler dies from an anxiety-induced heart attack. A water goddess laughs at him during his judgment in the afterlife and offers to let him be reborn in a struggling fantasy world plagued by a demon king, also offering him one choice from a selection of equipment and powers he can take to make setting up in the new world easier. He chooses to take the goddess herself with him, which she is obliged to honor but is greatly unhappy about. The show has a lot of good scenes, but it also often devolves into fetish content. All the supporting characters are cute girls with various quirks and the protagonist is a pervert. There is no nudity (i.e. no nipples or genitalia) or sex, but the show still is a bit sexually charged. I liked the prequel about the mage girl going to wizard school a little more than the main series I think.

To rank them, I'd probably say Uncle > Jobless = Re:Zero > KonoSuba > Overlord. I'll also say I consider isekai to be a bit mediocre as a genre. I don't like hearing game terminology in fantasy anime. Stuff like Dungeon Meshi and Ranking of Kings are better for that reason.

Scat hentai!

The term you are looking for is shitting dick-nipples. Also kys.

4 more anime I recommend:
Slayers
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Dirty Pair (both versions are good, nudity warning though)
Terra Formars. First season is so well-animated and suspenseful. It feels like a desperate suicide mission. Genetically modified humans go to Mars in an attempt to destroy a new race of powerful cockroach men only to be cut down hard. I still like the second season, but it's made by a different team and they ruined the atmosphere with gay shit like emoticon bubbles and general quirkiness. The animation in S2 is also overall worse, sadly.

Jahy-sama is a great slice of life anime.

There was one about girls in the Japanese countryside that I don't remember the name of, that's an OK one too. It has really beautiful backdrops.

Here is an isekai you might like and does the genre a little bit differently.

Grimgar, Ashes and Illusions; though this series feels as if it should be more of a more straight-forward fantasy anime. It involves a group of characters who get isekai'd into a new world and they having to find their place in it. Survival becomes a daily necessity and eventually they all settle into their new professions within the world. Where as most isekais always end with the characters returning to their previous world. This one ends with the characters accepting their new world and remaining in it. It's essentially a family series as the characters themselves are like a family.

This series is available on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Disney+ (a part of Hulu on Disney+).

I'll check it out, thanks :)

Watched the first couple episodes of Grimgar, I like it. Gonna watch some other stuff to clear out space on a flash drive then I'll try to binge the rest.

Finished Grimgar (still have the OVA to watch, might see that after I wake up). Cute little anime, shame it's not longer. Guessing the light novels ran longer, but not a big fan of that format.

I remembered another good anime: Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. Relaxing anime about an android girl who runs a cafe in a world where humans are slowly dying out after a global climate disaster. Just remembered Aria, too, which is a slice of life anime about a girl who makes her living rowing a gondola. I read some of the manga many years ago. Probably gonna start the show soon.

Finished Jahy-sama. Really hope it gets another season once there are enough new chapters of the manga.

Finished season 1 of Aria. Really nice anime for winding down for bed. I like when anime don't have set opening sequences and instead show more of what is going on in the show while the intro music plays. Jobless Reincarnation does this, too.

A fun game called Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has an anime airing at the moment. Going to binge that when it completes. There is also RE:Zero 3 to look out for. I think Mononoke (series about an exorcist, not the Ghibli film) got a movie or OVA this summer.

I'll have to check out some of the ones I haven't heard about before like Scramble.

>GTO
classic

>FMAB
Kinda like the first series more even if it's not faithful.

>Code Geass
Don't hate it, but it's goofy. Even goofier how it's a literal Pizza Hut ad.

Been watching Record of Lodoss War and Irresponsible Captain Tylor. Both are great. First has some of the best fantasy animation ever and second is a fun space comedy.

Spy Family is a pretty good anime that offers a nice balance of content.

Anonymous - 1 week ago

Yeah, that one is great. Always looking forward to more episodes of that. I like Yor a lot. It was cool how they made a lengthy multi-episode arc focused more on her in the middle of the most recent season.

Anyway, tonight I am gonna try to watch Scramble and Bocchi. I'm not sure what the guy who mentioned Scramble meant, but I found three ~70 minute OVAs called Mardock Scramble. They seem to have a cyberpunk setting. Hopefully that is the series he meant. If not, guess I'll look for another with a similar name later.

I see people post what looks like a girl with long pink hair wearing a tracksuit sometimes and I think that's supposed to be the main character of Bocchi. No clue if it's good or not, seen people complain about it when pictures of the aforementioned character are posted. I like the Black Heaven anime, though, so if this is anything like that and has a rock soundtrack I will probably like it.

Black Heaven is a good show, too. It's about a washed-up musician with a wife and kids being tempted back into his old lifestyle because the energy from his rock band's performances is necessary for powering a weapon in space needed for protecting the galaxy or something.

Started Overman King Gainer, gonna be awhile before I finish though. Watching another dozen things at the same time. Also rewatching Rurouni Kenshin.
>inb4 the creator is a hardcore pedophile
I know that by now and I hope he gets gutted like a fish, but I like this show and it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Not like I'm paying to watch it. I also don't recall the show containing anything that reflects his warped worldview, at least in that unsavory regard.
